MSL Dome Combi Mounts

A Dome Mount is a type of anti-vibration mount with a rounded (dome-like) profile which enhances flexing characteristics, especially in both compression and shear modes. They often include metal interlocking parts to improve load support and failure safety. Dome mounts use the natural flexibility of elastomer materials (rubber) under the dome shape to absorb vibration and shock. The rounded design typically increases deflection compared to flat mounts, helping isolate vibration across multiple axes (vertical and lateral). A Combi Mount combines two sandwich mounts in a specially designed metal housing. This design lowers natural frequency and improves lateral stability, making these mounts ideal for heavy equipment (low vibration leakage environments). By coupling two sandwich elements and encapsulating them in a protective housing, combi mounts support high vertical loads while providing increased flexibility in lateral directions. This lowers natural frequency and thus improves isolation of low-frequency vibration, which is critical for large or slowly operating machines.
