MSL Sandwich Mounts

A Sandwich Mount is a layered anti-vibration mount consisting of multiple rubber/elastomer layers bonded between flat metal plates. This “sandwich” structure provides high load-bearing capacity and excellent vibration isolation in compression and shear. When a compressive force (from machine weight or vibration) is applied, each rubber layer deforms while the metal plates distribute the load evenly. The layered configuration also reduces the natural frequency of the mount, which enhances vibration isolation. The rubber elastomer absorbs the vibration energy and prevents it from being transmitted to the base or floor. Sandwich mounts are used where heavy loads and high vibration isolation are required, such as large industrial machines that produce significant vibration through operation. Their construction allows tailoring stiffness and damping to the machine’s weight and operating frequency.
