U Shear Mounting Pad

A U Shear Mount is an anti-vibration component shaped somewhat like a “U,” engineered to isolate vibration primarily in shear. The U configuration allows the bonded rubber to deflect easily under lateral (sideways) forces, providing excellent vibration isolation for high-frequency components or where lateral movement is significant. In shear mounts, the force on the elastomer is parallel to the face of the rubber (not perpendicular as in compression). The U shape ensures that the shear deformation is maximized for a given load, reducing vibration transmission and ensuring that vibration doesn’t transfer through rigid connections.
